‘Disgusting!’ Biden Campaign Manager Hits Back At Trump For ‘Blatantly False’ Abortion Claim Dems Want To ‘Execute Babies’

Biden-Harris 2024 Campaign Manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez hit back when Mediaite asked about former President Donald Trump’s abortion remarks, which included the lie that Democrats want it to be legal to “execute babies after they’re born.”

Trump posted a four-and-a-half-minute Truth Social video Monday morning that leaned heavily into the well-worn and false attack on Democrats that they believe in legally “executing the baby” after it has been born.

The Biden campaign held a press conference call on Monday with Rodriguez, Deputy Communications Director Brooke Goren, and Kaitlyn Kash in response to Trump’s announcement.

During the call, I asked about Trump’s false accusation:

TOMMY CHRISTOPHER: Yes. Hi. Thank you. I was wondering if you guys could give me a response to the — Trump’s been saying this for a long time — but he said, he spent a good minute accusing Democrats of executing babies after birth, which is a complete falsehood.

But I wanted to know if you guys have a response to that. And do you think that there’s a potential for violence from statements like that, as we’ve seen in the past, like with the Planned Parenthood shooting?

JULIE CHAVEZ RODRIGUEZ: Look, it’s a disgusting and blatantly false accusation that Donald Trump is making to try to distract from his own unpopular policies.

We know that the president has stated his position time and again, and that he believes that Roe got it right. And, we know that it’s a simple choice that really belongs with the woman and her doctor.

And, well, you know, we’ve continued to see the real-life impact of these horrific state laws. And we’re going to continue to make sure that we focus on reelecting the president ensuring that he has a Democratic Congress to be able to restore the provisions of Roe, because, again, that’s where his position lies. And he believes that Roe got it right.

BROOKE GOREN: The one thing I’ll add on this, too, is that the President — Trump clearly sees that this is a huge political liability for him. And we’ve seen Republicans try this playbook again and again. It has not been successful.

Democrats obviously overperformed in the midterms. We’ve seen, since the Dobbs decision, voters come out and say that the Republicans’ position on this is unacceptable. So we don’t see this as effective.
