Matt Drudge took his trolling of former President Donald Trump with an AI-generated photo of a ranting Trump above a brutal banner headline on his influential news aggregation site.

Trump is getting a lot of attention for the antics at his Madison Square Garden rally, which his critics compared to an infamous 1939 American Nazi rally even before it began.

In particular, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s joke about Puerto Rico being a “floating island of garbage” has been played essentially on a loop by cable news following the rally — so much so that the Trump campaign tried to distance itself from the comment.

But the backlash has continued to grow, and on Tuesday Drudge joined the pile-on with a banner presenting Trump as a ranting mental patient, posting the AI photo with the banner headline “THEY’RE EATING THE PUERTO RICANS!”

The line is a reference to Trump’s now-infamous meltown at the ABC NEws debate in which he fairly spat false accusations about Haitian migrants.

The banner links to an article entitled “Trump’s Puerto Rico fallout is ‘spreading like wildfire’ in Pennsylvania” that contains less-than-welcome news for Trump:

Evidence of the backlash was immediate on Monday: A nonpartisan Puerto Rican group drafted a letter urging its members to oppose Trump on election day. Other Puerto Rican voters were lighting up WhatsApp chats with reactions to the vulgar display and raising it in morning conversations at their bodegas. Some are planning to protest Trump’s rally Tuesday in Allentown, a majority-Latino city with one of the largest Puerto Rican populations in the state.

And the arena Trump is speaking at is located in the middle of the city’s Puerto Rican neighborhood.

“It’s spreading like wildfire through the community,” said Norberto Dominguez, a precinct captain with the local Democratic party in Allentown, who noted his own family is half Republican and half Democratic voters.

“It’s not the smartest thing to do, to insult people — a large group of voters here in a swing state — and then go to their home asking for votes,” Dominguez said.

Trump is set to speak at a hastily-organized press event Tuesday morning.
