President-elect Donald Trump called for an investigation into retired Iowa pollster J. Ann Selzer as he accused her of undermining trust in the 2024 election, despite his decisive win in Iowa.
In a fiery post on Truth Social on Sunday night Trump lashed out at Selzer over her final Iowa poll, which predicted Vice President Kamala Harris would win the state by three points. Instead, Trump triumphed by a staggering 13 points.
The president-elect wrote:
A totally Fake poll that caused great distrust and uncertainty at a very critical time. She knew exactly what she was doing. Thank you to the GREAT PEOPLE OF IOWA for giving me such a record breaking vote, despite possible ELECTION FRAUD by Ann Selzer and the now discredited “newspaper” for which she works. An investigation is fully called for!

Selzer, often celebrated for her accuracy in political polling, announced this weekend that she is stepping away from polling to pursue “other ventures.” Her decision appears to have added fuel to Trump’s fire.
While the former president has repeatedly pushed discredited claims about losing the 2020 election due to fraud, this appears to be the first time he has leveled such accusations in a race where he emerged victorious.
Selzer’s poll was widely cited during the final days of the campaign, raising questions about whether its projections shaped voter sentiment or campaign strategies. Despite the wide margin of Trump’s Iowa win, his criticism reflects a broader trend of targeting institutions he views as undermining his victories.
Selzer has not responded to Trump’s comments.
