U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach unveiled the first drafts of a proposed $1 coin honoring President Donald J. Trump for America’s $250th birthday.
“No fake news here,” Beach posted on X. “These first drafts honoring America’s 250th Birthday and @POTUS are real. Looking forward to sharing more soon, once the obstructionist shutdown of the United States government is over.”
The draft design features Trump’s profile on the “heads” side of the coin and the word, “LIBERTY,” in block letters, as well as, “IN GOD WE TRUST” and the dates, 1776-2026.
The “tails” side features the president superimposed over an American flag while clenching his fist. The words, “FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT,” surround the coin in block lettering, accompanied by “UNITED STATES” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
Trump raised his fist and shouted, “Fight, fight, fight,” in the seconds after his assassination attempt in Butler, PA, in July 2024.
“Congress in 2020 passed bipartisan legislation, signed by Trump during his first term, that authorizes the Treasury Secretary to issue $1 dollar coins during the 2026 calendar year,” Politico reported. “The design of those coins must be /emblematic of the United States semiquincentennial.”
A Treasury Department official told Politico in a statement, “Despite the radical left’s forced shutdown of our government, the facts are clear: Under the historic leadership of President Donald J. Trump, our nation is entering its 250th anniversary stronger, more prosperous, and better than ever before. While a final $1 dollar coin design has not yet been selected to commemorate the United States’ semiquincentennial, this first draft reflects well the enduring spirit of our country and democracy, even in the face of immense obstacles.”
