Fox’s Peter Doocy Draws Laughs At Briefing With Crack About Trump-Biden Meet — Unamused Jean-Pierre Says ‘I’m Going To Move On’

Fox News Senior White House Correspondent Peter Doocy drew laughs and an unamused rejoinder from White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre with a wisecrack/question about President Joe Biden’s meeting with President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday.

On the heels of Trump’s surprisingly decisive victory in the presidential election, Biden upheld a longstanding tradition by inviting Trump to the White House and meeting with him in the Oval on Wednesday. It’s a tradition that Trump broke when Biden won in 2020.

The meeting drew intense interest, as well as copious commentary about the cordiality of two men who have spent years calling each other everything but a child of God, to use a favorite Bidenism.

At Wednesday’s White House press briefing, Jean-Pierre began by reading out the meeting to the White House press:

So, today, President Biden met with President-elect Trump for approximately two hours in the Oval Office. White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients and incoming Chief of Staff Susie Wiles joined the meeting.

It was substantive meeting and exchange of views.

They discussed important national security and domestic policy issues facing the nation and the world.

President Biden also raised important items on Congress’s to-do list for the lame-duck session, including funding the government and providing the disaster supplemental funding the president requested.

Finally, the president rei- — reiterated what he said to the president-elect the day after the election and to the American people in the Rose Garden just last week: We will have an orderly transition and a peaceful transition of power.

Among the many questions on the meeting that followed were a couple from Doocy that KJP blew off, but nevertheless amused some of his colleagues:

MS. JEAN-PIERRE: Go ahead, Peter.

PETER DOOCY: Thanks, Karine. Did President Biden show incoming President Trump anything classified?

MS. JEAN-PIERRE: No.

PETER DOOCY: No. Why not?

MS. JEAN-PIERRE: Why would he? This is a — this was an opportunity for them to speak candidly, openly. I’ve said to you that it was gracious, it was incredibly subs- — substantive. And I’ll just leave it there.

PETER DOOCY: The last time these two were together in the same room was at the debate. They talked a fair amount about playing golf. Do you know if a plan was made — (laughter) — for them to play golf in President Biden’s retirement?

MS. JEAN-PIERRE: Actually, that’s not the last time they saw each other. They saw each other at September 11th.
