Fox’s Peter Doocy Roasts Trump With Brutal Wisecrack At Briefing Over Cratering Stock Market

Fox News senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy zinged President Donald Trump over the cratering stock market with a brutal wisecrack to Trump White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt during the briefing.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped over a thousand points Monday and closed at -890 points amid fears fueled by Trump’s repeated refusal to rule out the possibility of an impending recession over the weekend. The freefall continued Tuesday as Trump ratcheted up his trade blood feud with Canada.

During Tuesday’s White House press briefing, Doocy opened up his questioning by twisting the knife — noting the stock market is “dropping and dropping and dropping,” and throwing her own words back at her.

Doocey then dropped a vicious one-liner on Leavitt that even she had to laugh at:

KAROLINE LEAVITT: Peter Doocy.

PETER DOOCY: Thank you, Karoline. So you said that the Dow dropping and dropping and dropping is a period of transition.

You’re sure nobody here at the white House short of the Dow?

KAROLINE LEAVITT: (LAUGHS) No, I don’t think so.

PETER DOOCY: Okay. But is there any concern here that it’s going to be harder to ask certain federal workers to retire if they look at their retirement accounts and they’re getting rocked every day?

KAROLINE LEAVITT: Well, I’m glad you brought up workers, because that’s exactly who President Trump is looking out for with his America First trade policy and his America First economic agenda.

And if you look at– there’s great indication to be optimistic about where the economy stands and the American people, investors, CEO, small business owners. But most importantly, workers should bet on President Trump.

Because his tariff policies, what he envisions, is reciprocity. Fair trade practices, where American workers are put first and are no longer ripped off by foreign countries all over the world.

Doocy made a similar point as he reported live from the briefing room minutes before Leavitt took to the podium.
