‘Get Over It!’ Biden Team Taunts Trump Over Gun Permit Endangered By Felony Convictions

President Joe Biden’s reelection team taunted former President Donald Trump over his imperiled gun permit — as a result of his new status as a convicted felon.
The hits just keep coming since the jury in the Stormy Daniels hush money trial returned “guilty” verdicts on all 34 felony counts last Thursday — and Judge Juan Merchan scheduled sentencing for July 11.
Aside from now being labeled a “convicted felon,” Trump now faces the prospect of losing his gun rights — a fact that the Biden campaign noted with relish in a campaign memo this week:
Convicted Felon Donald Trump Expected to Lose Gun License
Donald Trump is a convicted felon who may soon lose his right to carry a gun.
Good. Most Americans would prefer living in a country where an unhinged felon who has also been found liable for sexual abuse cannot own a firearm.
Yesterday, Biden-Harris 2024 Spokesperson James Singer released the following statement on Donald Trump losing his gun license:
“When Trump tells the NRA he won’t do a damn thing to prevent convicted felons, domestic abusers, and other dangerous people from getting their hands on guns, he’s talking about himself. The problem for Donald Trump is that Joe Biden is president and he is not — so just like he told the victims of gun violence– he should ‘get over it.’”
The memo also contains excerpts from several news reports on Trump’s situation, including from The New York Times:
The Police Department is seeking to revoke former President Donald J. Trump’s license to carry a concealed weapon after his conviction in his New York hush-money case, according to two people with knowledge of the matter.
Mr. Trump had a concealed carry permit in New York and had three pistols registered under the permit, the people said. Two of them were turned over to the Police Department’s License Division around the time Mr. Trump was charged in April 2023 with 34 counts of falsifying business records, according to the people with knowledge of the matter. The third pistol had already been legally transferred to Florida. It is unclear whether it is still in Mr. Trump’s possession.
Under federal law and state law in New York and Florida, people with felony convictions are barred from possessing a firearm.
The Police Department will complete an investigation that is likely to lead to the revocation of Mr. Trump’s concealed carry permit, according to the people with knowledge of the matter. Mr. Trump has the right to file a challenge to the move.
Trump is, however, still permitted to vote in this election — provided he isn’t sent to jail when Merchan sentences him.
