GOP Leader Fawns Over ‘Wonderful’ Trump — Right After Being Confronted With an Old Comment in Which Trump Absolutely Gutted Him

A leading House Republican was effusive in his praise of President-elect Donald Trump — even after being reminded of the time Trump torpedoed his bid for Speaker with a brutal post on social media.

In an interview on ABC’s This Week Sunday, Jon Karl confronted Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN), who serves as House Majority Whip, with a Truth Social post from 2023 in which Trump blasted Emmer as a “RINO” who is “totally out-of-touch.” What made the post particularly devastating was that it came right after Emmer emerged as a top candidate to become Speaker of the House.

“I have many wonderful friends wanting to be Speaker of the House, and some are truly great Warriors,” Trump wrote. “RINO Tom Emmer, who I do not know well, is not one of them. He never respected the Power of a Trump Endorsement, or the breadth and scope of MAGA—MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! He fought me all the way, and actually spent more time defending Ilhan Omar, than he did me—He is totally out-of-touch with Republican Voters…Voting for a Globalist RINO like Tom Emmer would be a tragic mistake!”

“I assume you’ve gotten to know Trump a little bit better?” Karl asked.

Emmer responded by fawning over the president-elect.

“The president and I are on very good terms,” Emmer said. “The president has been wonderful to me, and wonderful to my wife, has done everything that he could to campaign in Minnesota. He’s been amazing. And yeah, we’re going to do some good work together. But it’s Donald J. Trump’s agenda. My job is to make sure that we execute.”

“And what are those interactions like?”

“He’s a very blunt and honest human being,” Emmer replied — drawing a laugh from Karl.
