House Republican Praises Trump for ‘First Half’ of Truth Social Post Attacking Putin: ‘The Rest Is Dumb’

Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) praised and then criticized President Donald Trump for his Truth Social attack of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Following Russia’s latest aerial attack on Ukraine, Trump sent a post late Sunday night accusing Putin of going “crazy.” Trump also claimed that Putin planned on taking over the entirety of Ukraine and that such a plan would be the “downfall of Russia.”

Further down in the post, however, Trump redirected his attention to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky when he said he’s “doing his country no favors by talking the way he does.”

Hours after Trump’s post, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the President of the United States was suffering from an “emotional overload.”

In a statement sent to Fox News and published by Jennifer Griffin, Bacon called the first half of the message “perfect.” Once Trump got to his criticisms of Zelensky, Bacon believed the message started to fall apart.

“The first half of this message is perfect, the rest is dumb,” Bacon said. “Trump is attacking President Zelensky while Putin bombs Ukrainian cities and it is misguided. Moral ambiguity while one nation invades another is hurting Trump’s credibility. Putin is making a mockery of Trump, and Trump keeps attacking Zelensky.”
