Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) attacked Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) on Tuesday night, deeming her a “Muslim terrorist.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited President Donald Trump for the third time in recent months, as the war in Gaza continues amid concerns of a wider regional conflict after Israel and the U.S. bombed Iranian nuclear facilities last month.
“This is Benjamin Netanyahu’s third visit to DC this year,” Omar tweeted. “War criminals should not be welcomed by any president or Congress. He should be held accountable for his crimes, not platformed. Beyond shameful.”
In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu, then-Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and a former Hamas commander on charges of war crimes.
Fine, who is Jewish and an ardent advocate for Israel, took exception.
“I’m sure it is difficult to see us welcome the killer of so many of your fellow Muslim terrorists,” he replied. “The only shame is that you serve in Congress.” Fine arrived in Congress in April after winning a special election, but his reputation preceded him.
In November, apropos of nothing, Fine tweeted at Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) to warn them that “the ‘Hebrew Hammer’ is coming” and that the two Muslim lawmakers should “consider leaving.” He added the hashtag, “#BombsAway.”
Fine’s demeanor has rubbed even some Republicans the wrong way. Shortly after his victory, CNN’s Kaitlan Collins interviewed Fine and made him watch a clip of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ripping him.
“He repels people,” DeSantis said of Fine after the special election. “I think the election day turnout was really good for a special election for Republicans in the district. And I attribute that to President Trump’s intervention.”
The governor added that voters “didn’t like Randy Fine,” but elected him anyway to help President Donald Trump in Congress.
