An ICE agent captured on viral video shoving a detainee’s screaming wife and knocking her to the ground has been suspended.

The Department of Homeland Security called the incident, which occurred at an immigration court building in Manhattan, “unacceptable.”

According to NBC 4 New York, Monica Elizabeth Moreta and her children were at 26 Federal Plaza with her husband, who had just attended an immigration hearing. The husband is seen standing with his family when ICE agents tell him he’s being detained. He was told to let go of his daughter’s hand but refused before the scene descended into chaos.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement,”The officer’s conduct in this video is unacceptable and beneath the men and women of ICE.”

She continued, “Our ICE law enforcement are held to the highest professional standards and this officer is being relieved of current duties as we conduct a full investigation.”

ICE didn’t immediately give an update about the man’s detention.

Moreta told NBC 4 New York that she went to the hospital for evaluation.
