‘I’m Not a Potted Plant Here!’ Hannity Has It With Newsom and DeSantis Talking Over Each Other – And Him

Thursday night’s debate between Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) featured round after round of sparring, interruptions, and insults, and at one point Fox News host Sean Hannity got so frustrated he begged the governors to answer his questions and stop treating him like a potted plant.

During a section on abortion, Newsom turned to DeSantis to ask him if he would want to sign a national six-week abortion ban if he were president, like the law he signed as governor of Florida.

“No, no, no, no — I’m asking the questions!” Hannity interjected but Newsom kept going.

“Will you or will you not sign a six-week ban, in the unlikely case you become President of the United States?” asked Newsom. “Will you sign a national ban? He won’t answer that.”

Hannity then asked DeSantis about why he signed that bill that reduced Florida’s restrictions from 15 to 6 weeks and the Florida governor spoke for a bit before Newsom interrupted to try his question again.

“This is an important conversation, will you or will you not support a national ban if it lands on your desk?” asked Newsom.

DeSantis responded that Newsom hadn’t answered Hannity’s question about restrictions, Newsom kept asking if he would support a national ban — and Hannity jumped in to say, “Gentlemen, we are moving on to the next issue.”

“The American people should know this,” Newsom continued. “I’ll answer it for Ron DeSantis — he can’t answer it. He will sign that extreme six-week national ban –”

“OK. Let me move on,” Hannity kept trying.

“– the American people should know that,” Newsom concluded.

“I’m calling this the lightning round. It would be great if you guys cooperated. I’m not a potted plant here!” said Hannity, before instructing the governors that he would be asking “three simple questions” and he wanted “one-word answers.”

Spoiler alert: he did not get one-word answers.
