‘It’s Not a Perfect Record, Sean!’ Stephen A. Smith Pummels Hannity With a Laundry List of Trump Criticism
Stephen A. Smith confronted Sean Hannity about President Donald Trump’s record — with the ESPN host listing off a number of areas in which he believes the president has fallen short.
In a fiery battle on Monday’s edition of Hannity, Smith talked over the Fox News host to get out his points about the negative marks on Trump’s six-month report card.
“I saw the jobs report — 113,000 jobs were expected in July, we only got about 73,” Smith said — as Hannity repeatedly tried to cut in. “Excuse me, hold up? Is the war of Russia and Ukraine still going on that he said he was going to end?! I’m sorry! Israeli-Hamas conflict? Is that over? I mean, it’s not a perfect record here, Sean! You need to stop that about him!”
“No president has ever gotten the commitments from pharmaceuticals, rare earth, semiconductor chips, automobiles, they’re building here in America!” Hannity said.
“It’s a lot of commitments that get made!” Smith said. “It doesn’t mean it comes to fruition!
Smith went on to argue that Trump does not seem to be touting signature legislative accomplishment, the “Big, Beautiful” bill.
“If the big, beautiful bill is so big and beautiful, then… why are y’all focusing on all of this other stuff?” Smith said.
“What storylines?” Hannity said.
“Excuse me, Russia collusion?!” Smith said. “That’s what we’re bringing up now?!”
“All right you’re so smart, what is the Hillary Clinton bought and paid for Russian disinformation dossier?” Hannity said. “What is it?”
“The Steele dossier speaks for itself,” Smith said. “I heard what you said about Hillary Clinton. There’s a lot of evidence against her. I understand that. I am not questioning the information. I’m questioning the legitimacy of the story. I’m saying, with all the good things that you say Trump is doing, you would think he’d be talking a lot more about that stuff. He doesn’t seem to be talking about that very much.”
Hannity wrapped the interview by trying to bring Smith on board the Trump train.
“Repeat after me,” Hannity said. “Trump’s doing a great job.”
“Eh, we’ll see,” Smith replied.
