ABC abruptly cancelled Thursday’s taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live! due to a “personal matter” involving the host.
The show, which is usually taped in the afternoon and then aired during the late-night time slot, was set to feature actors David Duchovny and Joe Keery, as well as musical guest Madison Beer.
Beer announced on social media, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, @jimmykimmellive needed to reschedule my performance that was originally scheduled to air tonight to a later date.”
Although neither ABC nor Kimmel have given a reason for the cancellation, The Daily Mail reported that it was due to “a personal matter” involving the host.
A member of the “Kimmel Audience Team” posted to reddit, “Tonight’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live has been postponed. Apologies for any inconvenience. Will will [sic] contact you to reschedule for a future taping.”
ABC aired a repeat of the show’s October 28 episode in its place.
Fans were particularly concerned since Kimmel’s show was pulled from the air in September following the host’s comments about conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer Tyler Robinson.
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them,” Kimmel said.
Kimmel was reprimanded by Federal Communications Commission head Brendan Carr, prompting ABC’s owner Disney to announce the show’s suspension.
Kimmel returned to air on September 23.
The host announced on Tuesday that he had established a “Big, Beautiful” food bank in Los Angeles in the face of SNAP benefits ending due to the government shutdown.
The show’s team wrote on social media, “Cutting SNAP benefits creates uncertainty for American children, seniors, and families. To support our community members in need, we’re starting a donation center in our Hollywood backlot. If you are in LA, please come by to donate food, and if you are not, please consider supporting your local food banks.”
