Mike Gallagher, Fox’s Sean Duffy Go Off Over ‘Satanic Tree’ at Christmas Display: Like ‘Waving a Hamas Flag Inside of a Synagogue’
Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) and Fox News host Sean Duffy sounded the alarm over the Satanic Temple’s participation in a Christmas tree event held in the congressman’s district.
Duffy spoke with Gallagher as he guest hosted Sunday Morning Futures, and he turned the conversation to Fox News’ reporting on the recent uproar for the National Railroad Museum, which hosts the Festival of Trees event in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin. The museum is reportedly facing outrage for allowing the Satanic Temple to have one of the 66 trees displayed at the event, which was decked out with some rather atypical Christmas decorations.
Museum CEO Jacqueline Frank has addressed the outrage by defending the event’s diversity and explaining that the Temple’s tree is permissible within their guidelines since the display doesn’t promote hate, violence, or drug use. This was not enough for Gallagher and Duffy, the latter of whom demanded to know, “What’s happening in Green Bay, Wisconsin?”
Gallagher answered by trashing the museum’s “insufficient” response to the blowback, and calling it “completely ridiculous” to say the tree holds any kind of educational merit.
“I think it’s impossible to overstate how offensive it is to Christians,” he said. “It would be quite, in the literal sense, the same thing as waving the Hamas flag inside of a synagogue. I mean, it’s absolutely crazy that we would allow this to happen.”
Gallagher seemed to anticipate that the conservative commotion over “Satanic trees” would get written off as part of the “culture war.”
“But here is a perfect example of how that’s not what’s happening!” he insisted. “What’s happening is we’re just trying to defend basic traditions, or defend our children in the midst of these basic traditions, from the encroachment of woke ideology or offensive, upside down cultural propaganda. And so, the whole thing is a shame. I thought that Northeast Wisconsin was at least immune to something that you might see in New York or California, but we need to be vigilant as parents.”
“Well, who would have thought that a museum would say this is an educational opportunity for children to see a Satanic tree,” Duffy said as he wrapped up the segment. “It is outrageous. Hopefully, more attention will be brought to this and more parents express outrage.”
