MSNBC’s Tiffany Cross Annihilates ‘Freddy vs. Jason’ DeSantis Rivalry with Trump: ‘No, I’m the Bigger Racist’
MSNBC host Tiffany Cross ripped Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ rivalry with former President Donald Trump, which she described as “Freddy versus Jason.”
Trump and DeSantis have settled into a rivalry in which Trump attacks DeSantis and privately fumes while DeSantis just trying to avoid eye contact while enacting policies that appeal to Trump’s base.
On Saturday morning’s edition of The Cross Connection, Ms. Cross tore into DeSantis, telling her panel “We have to talk about Freddy vs. Jason, and that is, of course, DeSantis v. Trump in 2024.”
“It is very frightening to see how obnoxious these two men compete with each other, and DeSantis is going out of his way to appeal, like, ‘No, I’m the bigger racist. I’m the most inept. I’m the one that you want to like, Republicans,'” Cross said.
The host then zeroed in on a particular proposal, saying “This bill, backed by DeSantis, would prohibit Florida’s public schools and private business from making White people feel discomfort or guilt,” adding that “the ‘White’ is silent, he says, making anyone feel discomfort and guilt for their race, sex, national origin.”
Cross went on to add that she fears “supporters of systemic racism and White supremacy will look at him as their new champion.”
What are you going to do in Florida, Katie, to save us all from this terrible situation that could erupt?
Panelist Katie Phang of CNBC agreed, and told Cross that the Trump/DeSantis rivalry is turning her home state “into a dystopian hellscape.”
“DeSantis was not contented with his trying to kill all of us down here with his COVID policies. But now we obviously have shifted to the idea that we have to go to the real battlegrounds, which are the minds of our young ones,” Phang said, referring to the bill.
“What the pursuit is by DeSantis and these bills, such as the one you just talked about, is the idea that reality doesn’t exist, and it’s the one that’s the construct of the systemic racist,” Phang said.
