‘Not Sure I’m Gonna Be Able To Make Heaven!’ Trump Jokes He Will Be Denied at the Pearly Gates Despite Israel-Hamas Deal
President Donald Trump joked that he is “not sure I’m gonna be able to make heaven,” even after spearheading the Israel-Hamas hostage deal, while talking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday.
The president made the quip after Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked if Trump believed the peace deal would help Saint Peter grant his entry to heaven. Trump said he is not betting on it.
“I’m being a little cute — I don’t think there’s anything going to get me in heaven, okay? I really don’t,” Trump said. “I think I’m not maybe heaven-bound. I may be in heaven right now as we fly in Air Force One. I’m not sure I’m gonna be able to make heaven, but I’ve made life a lot better for a lot of people.”
Doocy asked the question about two months after Trump said he wanted to end the Russia-Ukraine War because it would boost his odds of getting inside the pearly gates.
The president on Sunday said that, “had the election of 2020 not been rigged,” he would have been able to save millions of Russian and Ukrainian lives by making sure the war never happened in the first place.
Trump’s joke was made as he is heading to Israel before dozens of hostages are released by Hamas on Monday. Out of the remaining 48 hostages, 20 are believed to be alive.
His trip comes a little more than two years after Hamas terrorists broke into the country from Gaza and killed 1,200 people and took hundreds of hostages.
The president, while speaking to reporters aboard the flight, also declared “the war is over” between Israel and Hamas — even if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not said it himself. He also told reporters it is a “very special time” where Israel and Muslim countries are celebrating simultaneously — which he said has “never happened before.”
