Allies of Pam Bondi are reveling in President Donald Trump’s statement of support for his beleaguered attorney general. And perhaps emboldened by Trump’s vote of confidence, those allies are saying that FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino — a vocal behind-the-scenes critic of Bondi’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein probe — now needs to leave his post having reportedly “burned his bridges.”

According to a New York Times report by Glenn Thrush and Shawn McCreesh, Bondi “welcomed” the Saturday afternoon Truth Social post in which the president went to bat for her — despite the intense criticism she’s faced from many MAGA influencers.

“What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and, in some cases, ‘gals?’” Trump wrote. “They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening. We have a PERFECT Administration, THE TALK OF THE WORLD, and ‘selfish people’ are trying to hurt it, all over a guy who never dies, Jeffrey Epstein. For years, it’s Epstein, over and over again.”

Multiple reports on Friday indicated that Bondi and Bongino privately clashed over her handling of the Epstein probe — with Bongino hightailing it out of Washington in protest and considering resigning from his post.

The New York Times report said Bondi’s allies are indeed pushing Bongino out the door — noting that Trump’s statement on Saturday did not mention Bongino once.

“That would appear to leave Mr. Bongino in the lurch,” Thrush and McCreesh wrote. “Ms. Bondi’s allies in the administration believe he has burned his bridges and needs to leave, according to two people familiar with her thinking.”
