A majority of registered voters who answered a new survey said they believed there has been a “cover-up” of President Joe Biden’s health, and among those who said so, a whopping 92% believed presumptive nominee Vice President Kamala Harris was involved in that alleged cover-up to at least some degree – or about half of all respondents.
In fact, 68% of those who believed there was a cover-up of Biden’s health said that Harris had “a great deal” to do with hiding the truth, in a new survey from YouGov/The Times of London.
The survey of 1,170 voters was conducted from July 22 to July 23 (PDF). Among the questions, respondents were asked if Biden was “unfairly pressured” to drop out — 48% no, 32% yes — whether “there has been a cover-up” of Biden’s health — 54% yes, 30% no — and other questions related to the upcoming election and Harris’s bid.
Those who responded that there has been a cover-up were asked “to what extent” each of a set of potential culprits were culpable in that alleged cover-up, including Harris, the media, Biden’s White House staff, his family, and congressional Democrats.
Sixty-eight percent said they believed Harris had “a great deal” to do with covering for her boss while another 24 percent said the vice president was either “somewhat” or “a little” bit behind keeping Biden’s health status under wraps.

The remaining eight percent of respondents said they were either unsure about Harris’ role in such a coverup or that she had nothing to do with running interference for her boss.
Eighty-eight percent of respondents who were asked the follow-up question assigned blame to the media while 97 percent blamed Biden’s staffers.
The same survey also found that Harris was the favorite of voters to replace Biden on the ballot after he dropped out of the race last Sunday and endorsed his vice president.
Fifty percent of respondents said Harris was the “best choice” to replace the 81-year-old while Sen. Joe Manchin (I-WV) came in second with just 10% support.
Democratic Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer came in last place with the support of merely 3% of respondents. Others who received votes were Democratic Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
Twenty-two percent of respondents said they preferred another candidate. Only 17% of the poll’s respondents said they disapproved of Biden’s decision to exit the race.
YouGov/Times of London poll reported a margin of error at +/- 3.2 percentage points.
EDITOR’S NOTE: The headline of this article has been corrected to reflect the content. The content has been updated to make it more clear that only those who believe there was a cover-up – which was the majority of respondents — were asked whether Harris was in some way responsible for that cover-up. Although the earlier version of this post also correctly made that distinction, we have updated it to make it more clear.
