‘Shocked Me to My Core’: Dan Bongino Says He’s Learned Things at FBI That Changed Him Forever in Cryptic X Post

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino posted a cryptic message on social media Saturday, writing that he has learned things since coming to the FBI that “shocked” him to “his core” and have changed him forever.
Bongino has been at odds with other members of the administration, in particular Attorney General Pam Bondi, over the way the Epstein files investigation has been handled and revealed to the American public, and speculation has run rampant over his future with the agency as a result, with CNN reporting recently that President Donald Trump was furious with him.
Bongino posted on X to say that he and Director Kash Patel are committed to “stamping out public corruption” and “political weaponization” of the FBI and law enforcement. But things took a cryptic and somewhat alarming turn rather quickly in the message.
“During my tenure here as the Deputy Director of the FBI, I have repeatedly relayed to you that things are happening that might not be immediately visible, but they are happening,” the post began. “The Director and I are committed to stamping out public corruption and the political weaponization of both law enforcement and intelligence operations. It is a priority for us.”
That’s when he leaned into the apparent revelations that affected him.
“But what I have learned in the course of our properly predicated and necessary investigations into these aforementioned matters, has shocked me down to my core,” Bongino wrote. “We cannot run a Republic like this.”
“I’ll never be the same after learning what I’ve learned,” he said.
He soon quote retweeted his post, with a link a story at Just The News.
The story at the link is titled “2016 intel report said Kremlin preferred GOP over Dems — but actual history tells a different story” and is in reference to the so-called “Russiagate” controversies that plagued Trump’s first term of office.
Bongino’s most recent previous post to X was a Friday update on the “efforts out of @FBI to defend the homeland and protect Americans from threats here at home and around the world.”
In that considerably more upbeat offering, Bongino wrote: “We’re right around the 6 month mark, and thanks to the leadership of this administration and the work of our men and women of law enforcement, there is no doubt our country is safer today than it was in January.”
At the time of this post, Bongino has added no follow-ups to his new, more bleak message.
