‘They Abused Us!’ Fox News White House Correspondent Reveals How Biden Team ‘Shut Down’ Stories on His Decline
A prominent White House correspondent is speaking out on the stunning tactics she says the Biden White House used to pressure her and others to avoid coverage of former President Joe Biden’s decline.
Speaking on Thursday’s edition of America’s Newsroom, Fox News Senior White House Correspondent Jacqui Heinrich revealed the lengths to which the Biden press shop went to try to stifle coverage of the former president’s mental acuity.
“The White House was very effective in maligning anyone who was skeptical about the president’s age and abilities as a bad actor,” Heinrich said. “As someone who is not a good journalist. And they abused us, too.”
Heinrich’s colleague, Bill Hemmer, interjected to confirm what he’d just heard.
“Sorry, they what?” Hemmer asked.
“They abused us!” Heinrich reiterated. “I had people in that press office tell me I was not a good reporter because I was asking questions about these things — with sourcing. And that was sort of the snap reaction a lot of the time, rather than actually going to the people who I got the information from and having them confirm it. They would just like to shut down that discussion.”
The scrutiny of White House journalists’ coverage of Biden’s decline — or lack thereof — has been a hot topic following the publication of Original Sin, the book co-authored by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’s Alex Thompson which has shed new light on Biden’s decline. Heinrich’s fellow Fox News Senior White House correspondent, Peter Doocy, posted a series of videos on Wednesday showing him repeatedly questioning the White House about Biden’s fitness for office. But he and Heinrich were among the few in the press corps to consistently do so — and Heinrich’s revelation on Thursday may help explain why.
