‘This Is Bullsh*t’: Conservatives Rebel Over Trump’s Reported Iran Nuclear Deal Offer That ‘Looks Strikingly Like Obama’s’

Axios’s Barak Ravid reported that the Trump administration offered the Iranian government a nuclear deal that would allow the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism to conduct “low-level uranium enrichment on Iranian soil for a to-be-determined period of time,” and conservatives are not too happy about it.
While Secretary of State Marco Rubio and White House envoy Steve Witkoff have previously submitted that any deal between the longtime enemies would not allow Iran to enrich uranium, the White House did not deny Ravid’s reporting when asked for comment.
“President Trump has made it clear that Iran can never obtain a nuclear bomb. Special Envoy Witkoff has sent a detailed and acceptable proposal to the Iranian regime, and it’s in their best interest to accept it,” said White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. “Out of respect for the ongoing deal, the Administration will not comment on details of the proposal to the media.”
The offer would represent a major break from President Donald Trump’s first administration, during which he pulled the United States out of former President Barack Obama’s Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), or the first Iran Nuclear Deal.
Online, conservatives and left-leaning hawks are already beginning to voice their displeasure with the outlines of this new deal.
“President Trump, all of his top officials, 52 GOP senators, and 177 House Republicans demanded zero enrichment capability and full dismantlement of Iran’s nuclear program. Now? The U.S. is offering a deal that lets Iran keep enriching,” observed Mark Dubowitz, CEO of the Foundation fo Defense of Democracies.
“Can this be true? We will know very soon. Senate must use its treaty power either way,” replied Fox News’ Mark Levin to Dubowitz’s tweet.
“This looks strikingly like Obama’s nuclear deal,” argued National Review senior writer Noah Rothman. “This is precisely what opponents of Barack Obama’s Iran deal sought to avoid. The distinction the JCPOA attempted to draw between civilian and military enrichment programs was illusory then, and it’s just as misleading now.”
“This is embarrassing,” declared conservative commentator Marina Medvin above a screenshot of the Axios headline. “For the record — capitulating to Iran to ‘avoid war’ in order to allow them to complete their terror arsenal doesn’t actually ‘avoid war’ — at best, it pushes war back by a bit. But this isn’t ‘avoidance,’ it’s just kicking it down the line. This is bullshit.
“Like most Americans, I strongly oppose the U.S. entering an even worse version of the JCPOA,” said Eyal Yakoby in a tweet shared by the likes of conservative radio star Erick Erickson. “The Iranian Regime that chants ‘Death to America’ cannot have any nuclear capability. It’s that simple.”
“If you spent a decade trashing the JCPOA (and we all did because it was garbage), then don’t be the clown that supports this just because it’s your side,” mused RedState’s Bonchie.
“So nostalgic of Donald Trump to pick Steve Witkoff to negotiate the 2015 deal with Iran in 2025. These guys are great negotiators, if by ‘negotiating’ you mean being too stupid to know you are being taken,” said Commentary‘s John Podhoretz.
“After repeatedly fighting against Obamacare repeal, what was left for Trump/Vance to do except resurrect Obama’s Iran Deal,” wondered conservative activist Jason Hart.
