‘This Town Buries Secrets!’ GOP Congressman Tells Jake Tapper He’s Worried ‘We’re Never Gonna Get to the Bottom’ of the Epstein Files
A Republican congressman expressed skepticism that the public will ever get the answers it is seeking on Jeffrey Epstein.
Speaking with Jake Tapper on CNN’s State of the Union Sunday, Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) — who is one of 10 Republicans to sign on to a discharge petition which would require the release of the Epstein files — sounded off about how the probe has been handled.
“I’m ticked off at everybody,” Burchett said. “Look, this thing should have been handled. Now we’re at the point they’re going to start dumping files. And my biggest fear in this, Jake, you got a thousand children that were abused by this dirtbag who’s burning in hell right now, and he should be. And yet the American public’s all pointing the finger trying to play politics with this thing. And it’s not accurate.”
Burchett praised President Donald Trump for instructing the DOJ to pursue the release of Epstein case grand jury testimony, and ripped Democrats for only recently taking an interest in the Epstein story. But the congressman further expressed skepticism that the files will see the light of day.
“You know this town buries secrets,” Burchett told Tapper. He added, “This town does not give up its secrets easy.”
The congressman accused the Biden administration of having “tampered with these files” — although he did allow that he doesn’t have proof to back up his claim, which he called a “gut feeling.
Burchett added that he fears “we’re never gonna get to the bottom of it.”
