Trump Blurts Out Victory Declaration In Dead Of Night Post: ‘A Great And Very Successful Day!’

President Donald Trump blurted out a triumphant message in a dead-of-night social media post following his summit with Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin., calling it a “great and very successful day!”
Trump rolled out the red carpet for Putin Friday as the two leaders met for a high-stakes summit meeting in Anchorage, Alaska that did not result in a hoped-for ceasefire. Media observers like Fox News Senior White House Correspondent Jacqui Heinrich came away “stunned” by the impression that Putin had “steamrolled” Trump.
But in a late night-early morning Truth Social post, Trump offered a much rosier take, writing that it was actually a goo thing that there was no “mere Ceasefire Agreement”:
A great and very successful day in Alaska! The meeting with President Vladimir Putin of Russia went very well, as did a late night phone call with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine, and various European Leaders, including the highly respected Secretary General of NATO. It was determined by all that the best way to end the horrific war between Russia and Ukraine is to go directly to a Peace Agreement, which would end the war, and not a mere Ceasefire Agreement, which often times do not hold up. President Zelenskyy will be coming to D.C., the Oval Office, on Monday afternoon. If all works out, we will then schedule a meeting with President Putin. Potentially, millions of people’s lives will be saved. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
The president’s post followed post-summit activity documented in several pool reports en route from Alaska:
President Trump had a lengthy call during the flight back to DC with President Zelensky of Ukraine, press secretary Karoline Leavitt told the pool.
President Trump is currently on the phone with NATO leaders, Leavitt told the pool. We are still waiting to deplane while POTUS completes that call.
…
President Trump stepped off Air Force One at 2:45. He waved at the pool but did not respond to shouted questions about his phone calls with world leaders and climbed into the Beast.
According to Reuters, Putin did not mention any agreement to meet with Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in comments following the summit.
