Trump Cartoonishly Claims ‘Hundreds’ of Thieves Are Plundering Whole Stores: ‘They Walk Out With Air Conditioners’

Former President Donald Trump unleashed a bevy of mockery on Thursday night after he claimed that mass mobs of robbers were completely cleaning out department stores, including running off with AC units, and that if police tried to do anything it would resulting them losing their homes.

“You go to some of these department stores, over 500 people walk into the stores. They walk out with air conditioners. They stripped the whole store. The company goes out of business. The store is vacant for 25 years. The whole city becomes a slum,” Trump wildly claimed while addressing a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix.

“And if you do anything as a law enforcement person, they take away your house. They take away your family, they take away your pension,” Trump added. Notably, no jurisdiction in the country punishes police (who have qualified immunity) for stopping criminals.

Trump made similar wild claims while addressing the NRA in April of last year, saying:

As an example, when you see these gangs of hundreds of young, usually young people go and attack a department store, department stores in San Francisco and Los Angeles and Chicago, and they run in by the hundreds and they’re running out carrying refrigerators and carrying air conditioners and big stuff. Big little everything. Fur coats, not fur coats, everything they’re carrying. They empty out the stores.

Critics were quick to pounce on Trump’s latest outlandish comments and the cartoonish images of robbers carrying every item, including very large and heavy ones, out of a store:
