President Donald Trump insisted Russia and China are “not participating” in the Iran war.
The president made the declaration Friday in a Truth Social post.
The post included Trump claimed he is doing “very big favors” for Chinese President Xi Jingping:
President Xi, at our recent meeting in Beijing, China, told me that he would not, under any circumstances, give or sell Weapons to the Islamic Republic of Iran — And that statement included Chinese Companies.
Considering our relationship, I take him at his word and, besides, l am doing him very big favors, also. Likewise, President [Vladimir] Putin, despite the horrible War going on in Ukraine (The relationship remains, as it does with President [Volodymyr] Zelenskyy), told me that he would not sell Weapons to Iran. He understands that I do not sell Weapons to Ukraine, but to NATO Countries. They pay full price, and how those Weapons are distributed, I have no idea. Therefore, two major Countries that people speak of often in terms of Iran are, in my opinion, not participating. If they did, it would be very bad for them — Certainly not in their best interests. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP
The message comes as the months-long conflict in Iran is creating more controversy on the home front, and weeks after Trump claimed in a speech to the nation on election fraud that China was trying to influence American elections.
On Thursday, Trump claimed the U.S. is “doing better than anybody expected” in the war with Iran — the same day four Republicans joined Democrats in a vote in the House of Representatives to end the conflict.
The nonbinding resolution passed 214-208 with the help of four Republicans joining 210 Democrats: Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY), Tom Barrett (R-MI), Warren Davidson (R-OH), and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA).
