Trump Says He’ll Fire Top Fed Official Lisa Cook If She Refuses to Resign
President Donald Trump said Friday that he will fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook if she declines to resign after she was faced with allegations of mortgage fraud from his administration.
Appearing Friday morning at the White House Experience museum in Washington, D.C., Trump was asked by a reporter if he intends to ax the embattled Fed governor.
“Yeah, I’ll fire if she doesn’t resign. What she did was a bad … so I’ll fire her if she doesn’t resign,” he said.
Cook was the target of numerous X posts on Wednesday from Federal Housing Finance Agency honcho Bill Pulte, who accused her of mortgage fraud.
Pulte claimed that Cook used an Atlanta condo as her primary residence, two weeks after taking a loan on a Michigan home she also declared as her primary residence.
“Cook must resign, now!!!” Trump said in a Truth Social post that followed Pulte’s findings.

A spokesman from the Federal Reserve Board’s media office declined to comment, instead referring Mediaite to her statement from earlier this week:
I learned from the media that FHFA Director William Pulte posted on social media that he was making a criminal referral based on a mortgage application from four years ago, before I joined the Federal Reserve. I have no intention of being bullied to step down from my position because of some questions raised in a tweet. I do intend to take any questions about my financial history seriously as a member of the Federal Reserve and so I am gathering the accurate information to answer any legitimate questions and provide the facts.
