Trump Trashes Chuck Schumer in Tirade Over Nominations Standoff: ‘EXTORTIONISTS!’

President Donald Trump lashed out at Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Wednesday, accusing him of “extortion” and branding Democrats as “thugs” holding the country to ransom over stalled nominations.
The attack follows a failed attempt to cut a deal before the Senate’s summer recess, one that would have seen Democrats confirm some of the roughly 150 nominees Trump is trying to push through. Instead, Schumer held the line, refusing to move without concessions on frozen federal funds, and walked away claiming victory.
Taking to Truth Social on Wednesday, Trump railed:
Politically embattled Senator, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, wants the Republicans to pay, as EXTORTION, TWO BILLION DOLLARS in order for the Radical Left Democrats to approve the hundreds of Trump Appointments who have been waiting for months, and are raring’ to go. This has never happened before. There has never, in U.S. history, been such a delay. THEY ARE EXTORTIONISTS! Republicans must create legislation in order to get out of the grasp of these Country hating THUGS. Move quickly!!! MAGA
Trump had urged Senate Republicans to cancel recess and muscle through the backlog, but on Saturday, the Senate left Washington for its August recess when talks collapsed.
With the nominees in limbo, the president fumed that Schumer should “GO TO HELL!”
The deadlock has alarmed many in Congress, with a Sept. 30 funding deadline approaching that will raise the stakes between Schumer and Trump, should the Democrat decide to filibuster any proposed spending legislation.
