Former President Joe Biden crashed former First Lady Jill Biden’s book event in June, continuing to plug his own upcoming book even as music played him off, video released on Thursday finally shows.

While the New York Post initially reported on the uncomfortable moment in early June, video credited to 92NY did not emerge until Thursday, when Axios’ Alex Thompson posted the footage on X.

Notably, Thompson co-authored Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again with CNN’s Jake Tapper in 2025.

The former first lady appeared at the 92nd Street Y to promote her book, View from the East Wing: A Memoir. Thompson’s video shows the crowd, including The View‘s Whoopi Goldberg on stage alongside Jill, standing to applaud the former president, who rises from his seat and walks to the stage.

“Oh, Joe has a question,” quipped Jill as the crowd laughed. “Like you couldn’t ask it later?”

“Who do you love most in the whole world?” asked Biden, now closer to the stage.

“Whoopi,” the former first lady responded. Biden then turned to the audience for more applause, shaking hands with a security guard.

“I love you most, Joe,” Jill clarified. “Is that the answer you wanted?” The couple continued to talk between themselves, with the former first lady mic’d up and Biden still standing at the foot of the stage.

Goldberg then closed out the event, and music began to play over the loudspeakers. Yet Biden gestured to the crowd with a finger held up, clearly with more to say.

He was handed a microphone and said, “My book, which comes out in September, read it.”

“I have to remind him, this is my event!” said Jill.

“The only thing Jill does better than write is she’s a beautiful woman,” concluded the former president. He then handed the microphone back and was escorted off the stage.

Biden’s book, Promise Me, America, comes out in November.
