WATCH: Driver Saved From Semi Hanging Off a Bridge In Wild Scene Out of Kentucky
Fox News broke out of a commercial Friday for a live shot of the “miraculous” rescue of a truck driver dangling hundreds of feet above the Ohio River.
Harris Faulkner gave a stunned narration of the rescue that began after a truck crashed through the side of the Clark Memorial Bridge between Kentucky and Indiana.
“Would you look at this? This is a miracle right now. I mean — Oh, my goodness, hang on to him! Oh, good Lord!” Faulkner exclaimed as the driver and a first responder dangled precariously above the river. Faulkner continued:
We don’t know exactly how this happened yet. Rescue crews trying to get to him. Now, when they pull out you’ll see, off to the top right of your screen, you’ll see the fire truck and all the firefighters up there. But this rescuer went down, and just did a miraculous thing. And, I just, we couldn’t believe what our eyes were seeing. We’re so glad that we were able to break out of a commercial and come and let you watch this at this moment. I wasn’t sure that we would catch it. I wasn’t sure that it would happen.
They were hanging over freezing cold water, the Ohio River. You hit that, it’s like hitting cement at that height. Officials say a motor vehicle collision caused this scene. We’re learning more now. The bridge is shut down both directions. But, if you want to see faith in action, watch what this rescuers did! Lowered down to the cab’s front, pulled the driver out, and now dangling far above, even farther above the Ohio River. Freezing cold temperatures, able to hang on to him, the two of them in one harness.
Faulkner followed the scene until the rescuer was able to get his foot over the bridge’s rail.
“They’ve got the left foot of one of the men! You see the ropes that are tethered to the rescuer’s harness. They’ve got him! They’re trying to pull him down. I wish we had sound to this, but can only imagine there have got to be some cheers. Cheers to go with all the tears. Oh, there you go. They got him! They got him. They’re both safe, God bless them.”
