Watch Fox News Anchor John Roberts Absolutely Shred Metal Classic On Guitar

Who knew Fox News host John Roberts was an absolute menace on an electric guitar?

The 68-year-old woke up Saturday morning and decided to play along to some Def Leppard. He ended up nailing the solo to the band’s 1983 classic “Photograph.”

Luckily for people in the market for some entertainment, he recorded it and posted it online. Roberts teased he hacked – or as he put it – used a “cheat” to pull off the track’s gritty solo.

Tagging the band on X, Roberts wrote, “A little Saturday am Pyromania. See if you can pick up the cheat in the solo.”

No matter how the host of America Reports pulled off his six-string wizardry, his mastery of his instrument and the whammy bar impressed his followers (and us here at Mediaite).

Commenters weighed in:

“Looks and sounds satisfying. Bravo.”

“Rock it! John!”

“Damn, now I see you in a whole different way”

“That’s awesome John! Didn’t know you played.”

“John, This is awesome!”

Roberts’s employer, Fox News, has a page with 665 words dedicated to his journalistic chops, work history, and the accolades he has collected over the years as a reporter.

Nowhere does Fox mention its former chief White House correspondent is a bona fide rocker.

Apparently before helming a news desk, Roberts was known as “JD” and was a VJ in Canada. He also sported a mullet.

Old archives from his music days show Roberts has always had a passion for rock music and eighties metal in particular. In this clip, he seamlessly pivoted from talking about the bands Kiss, Van Halen, and Iron Maiden:

Roberts has posted numerous clips on his X account throughout the years, including one from 2020 in which he called his skills “rusty.”

That wasn’t the case on Saturday morning when the cable news host was on his A-game.
