WATCH: Heart-Pounding Bodycam Footage Shows Arrest of Louisiana Jail Escapees
Police in Texas have released dramatic bodycam footage showing the arrest of two fugitives who escaped from a New Orleans jail earlier this month — along with eight other inmates.
Leo Tate and Jermaine Donald, who had been on the run since the May 16 breakout from the New Orleans Justice Center, were captured near Highway 190 and Geneva Road in Huntsville, Texas. Their arrests were confirmed by the Deputy U.S. Marshal.
The manhunt for two other escapees continues.
The video, published Tuesday by Huntsville Police, shows officers rushing toward the pair’s car and taking down the convicted criminals.
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill confirmed that both men face additional charges following their escape.
Tate was initially incarcerated on charges of burglary, firearm possession of a firearm with a rap sheet that includes prior charges of attempted second-degree murder. Donald’s record, authorities said, includes charges of second-degree murder, aggravated battery, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Both men will remain in custody in Texas until they are extradited back to Louisiana.
