‘You Don’t Mind?’ Trump Calls Italian Prime Minister a ‘Beautiful Young Woman’
President Donald Trump joked he is willing to risk it all to call Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni “a beautiful young woman.”
The president, while running through a list of foreign leaders who traveled to Egypt on Monday to celebrate the Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal he brokered, took a moment to compliment Meloni on her beauty — even though he riffed that such a move would get him canceled in the U.S.
“We have a woman, a young woman whose a — I’m not allowed to say it, because usually it’s the end of your political career if you say it — she’s a beautiful young woman,” Trump said, as a smirk ran across his face. “Now, if you use the word ‘beautiful’ in the United States about a woman that’s the end of your political career. But I’ll take my chances.”
Trump then turned to look at the 48-year-old Meloni — who appeared to be holding back a smirk herself — and continued.
“You don’t mind being called beautiful, right? Because you are,” Trump told her.
The microphones picked up a laugh from Meloni, while British Prime Minister Keir Starmer flashed a quick, awkward smile; Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, based on the big smile on his face, seemed to enjoy the spectacle a bit more.

Meloni appeared to gesture that she took the comment well as Trump turned back around, and she smiled for a moment.
“Thank you very much for coming, we appreciate it,” Trump added. “She wanted to be here, and she’s incredible, and they really respect her in Italy. She’s a very successful, very successful politician.”
Trump then moved on to the next country he wanted to acknowledge, which was Norway.
This was not the first time Trump has commented on Meloni’s looks. The president, in August, was heard on a hot mic telling her, “You look fantastic.”
Trump also said he was enchanted by Meloni and her use of the Italian language back in April.
“That was so beautiful! What the hell did you say?” Trump told her at the White House, after Meloni answered a question on the Russia-Ukraine War.
The president was in Egypt after appearing in Israel earlier in the day. He made the trip to celebrate and honor the release of 20 hostages who were being held by Hamas.
