Conservatives Dunk On Gavin Newsom After He Announces New Podcast: ‘Your State Is Literally In Shambles’

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) is being roasted online after unveiling his new podcast, in which he plans to debate MAGA personalities.
This Is Gavin Newsom will be produced by iHeartPodcast and will focus on long-form interviews with Republicans. The aspiring Democratic governor already appears on the sports and culture podcast Politickin alongside fellow hosts Marshawn Lynch and Doug Hendrickson.
“We already know what our disagreements are with the MAGA movement. I want to understand what the motivations are, the legitimacy of those motivations, and just really understand where people are coming from,” Newsom said. “They are influential — they are. They explain more things in more ways on more days about what’s going on, and if we’re not trying to understand their motivations, we will be victims of their motivations.”
However, Newsom received a hefty amount of criticism online, including from Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who slammed the governor for famously eating at the luxurious French Laundry restaurant without a mask amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Let’s start with why did you throw a party for yourself at the French Laundry with no masks on in the middle of Covid when California had just about the strictest COVID regs in the country and thousands of small businesses were going outta business because of said policies? https://t.co/q6sWUY2ItJ

Maybe try governing California first. https://t.co/cUJLVeXlxy

Your state is literally in shambles, homelessness is a massive problem, communities are still just ash and you think now is the good time to launch a … podcast? https://t.co/GpXATIGYbJ

I feel like this would be better timed after you are done being governor. As a citizen of California, I don’t want you answering my questions, I want you solving problems.
Maybe I am wrong. Maybe these conversations will help solve problems. That would be great too.

Hi Gavin,
I would love to come on your show to discuss why your administration shut down a rockstar wildfire team under your command then lied to the public about their heroic accomplishments after I reported on your actions.
Thanks,

This is actually perfection. Gavin Newsom is the ideal person to start a podcast. Self-absorbed, vapid, loves to hear his own voice.
You should stick to media full time @GavinNewsom and free us Californians from your corrupt deathly grip https://t.co/v9ArOawZvY

I get they are trying to break into the podcast world because it worked so well for Trump, but there is nothing I’d rather do less than watching a Gavin Newsom podcast.
He’s so desperate to be president. https://t.co/lf5uM9B9ba
