James Carville Angrily Dismisses Trump’s Canada, Panama Canal Talk: ‘Bullsh*t Stacked on Bullsh*t!’

Democratic strategist James Carville dismissed President Donald Trump’s talk of making Canada the 51st state a “bullshit” distraction from his “failures.”

On the Politics War Room podcast, Carville accused Trump of capitulating on a trade deal with China by slapping the country with massive tariffs. China has responded by doing the same. Carville argued Trump’s tariffs have only created economic chaos, but the man is an expert at distraction.

The once advisor to former President Bill Clinton chalked up Trump’s talk of buying Greenland, making Canada the 51st state, and annexing the Panama Canal as “goofy shit” to distract from his “failures.”

“That’s what he does with Greenland. That’s what he does with the Panama Canal or Canada or any of the other goofy shit that he comes up with. He just distracts you from the fact of all of the failures he’s had,” Carville said.

Carville admitted that the strategy is working as people are taking Trump’s talk seriously. He advised Democrats to start treating Trump’s more outlandish ideas as “bullshit.”

“And goddamnit, it works again! They’re actually taking it seriously,” he said. “It’s just all bullshit stacked on bullshit stacked on bullshit, and until people learn to treat it like that — as if he’s going to annex the Panama Canal or Canada’s going to be the 51st state. I mean, get fucking real. But he certainly does drive the conversation.

In a NewsNation interview this week, Carville told Democrats to focus hard on Trump’s “corruption,” citing his recently-launched meme coin and a jet from Qatar he’s planning to accept as examples. Carville previously told Democrats to “play dead” in February, calling it a “tactical pause.”

“I’d never get off the corruption road. And it’s not gonna stop,” he said. “It’s gonna keep, we’re gonna keep finding, every day we’re going to find out more and more and more. That’s what I really believe
