Joe Rogan Left Nearly Speechless Learning of Charlie Kirk Shooting in Real Time: ‘It Doesn’t Seem Real’

Joe Rogan was left struggling to find words after learning in real time about the shooting of Charlie Kirk, someone Rogan called a “nice guy” based on their one meeting.

On the latest Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Rogan was joined by actor Charlie Sheen and both were floored to learn in real time that Kirk had been shot during an event on a Utah college campus. The episode was released on Thursday, but recorded on Wednesday.

“So this just happened, we just found out that Charlie Kirk got shot,” Rogan said.

“That’s f**king awful,” Sheen responded, adding, “murdered for having a different opinion from somebody else, different ideology from somebody.”

Rogan struggled to find words as it was confirmed by his producer that Kirk had been killed.

The podcaster and comedian then slammed analyst Matthew Dowd for suggesting Kirk could have somehow been shot by someone firing off a gun in celebration. Rogan blasted the “crazy take” and anyone “celebrating” the death of Kirk. Dowd was dropped by MSNBC shortly after making his comments on air.

Rogan said the news did not seem “real” and revealed he met Kirk once before and they had a pleasant interaction.

“We were talking about assassinations earlier, whether it’s Kennedy or RFK or, you know, you think of them in the past. You think when something happens in the current, like right now with this one with Charlie Kirk, it doesn’t seem real. It seems like it’s gonna take a long time before we reference this as something that happened,” Rogan said.

Rogan detailed his meeting with Kirk at a gun range after Sheen asked if he was a “friend.” Rogan also railed against those profiting off of political divisiveness.

“I met him once. I met him once at a gun range of all places. He was a nice guy when I met him. It’s a f**ked up time. People are so divided in this country,” he said. “And there’s so many people that love it. They love that we’re divided and they profit off that division and they stoke the fires and they do it for their own profit. And it’s so fucking gross. And to encourage this kind of thing is really one of the most horrific things that you could do after someone dies horribly like this to celebrate.”
