NYU Professor Slams MSNBC ‘Bending F***ing Knee’ To ‘Fascism’ After Morning Joe Hosts Shut Down His Calling Trump a ‘Rapist’

NYU professor Scott Galloway blasted the media, and particularly MSNBC, for “bending the fucking knee” to fascism and Donald Trump while recounting a recent Morning Joe appearance during which he was corrected for calling the president “a rapist.”

On Friday, during the Pivot with Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway podcast, Galloway said the media is being held to an absurd standard regarding what can and cannot be said about Trump – while Trump says whatever he wants.

Galloway’s complaints followed an ABC News settlement with Trump after network anchor George Stephanopoulos referred to Trump as a rapist last year and Trump sued for defamation. Trump was found civilly liable for sexual abuse in the E. Jean Carroll case and ABC opted not to go to trial with the now-president.

Weeks after the settlement, Galloway was on MNSBC’s Morning Joe when he referred to Trump as “an insurrectionist and a rapist.”

MSNBC’s anchor Mika Brzezinski was quick to offer context to Galloway’s comment when she said, “I want to make a comment about a word that was used in this interview. Donald Trump was tried civilly and was found libel of sexual abuse, not rape. But the judge in the case likened his actions to rape, but the liability was officially called sexual abuse.”

Friday, Galloway railed against media organizations such as MSNBC for what he categorized as kowtowing to Trump. As he complained, Swisher similarly interrupted him to clarify Trump was not found liable for rape:

GALLOWAY: When a media company says things that are a fraction of the misinformation, slander, disparaging statements that the president has made himself. That happens every day online. And they agree to set precedent by bending a knee and bowing to this intimidation. It sends a chill across the entire fucking nation. I’m on Morning Joe, and I call the president an insurrectionist and a rapist, and Mika stops the show to clarify he was found guilty of sexual abuse.

SWISHER: Libel.

GALLOWAY: Excuse me. Sexual libel. He was found liable of sexual abuse. Is that right?

This is straight out of the fascist handbook. Intimidate anyone who says anything negative about you. And if these companies, in my opinion, had more fidelity to American values in the very important role media plays in checking power, they wouldn’t be bending the fucking knee like this.
