Shane Gillis Roasts Elon Musk’s Gesture: ‘You Can’t Do That at a Political Rally!’
Comedian Shane Gillis was stunned to see Elon Musk do a gesture that appeared almost identical to the Nazi salute of the 20th century.
During the inauguration of President Donald Trump, Musk appeared to stage to give a speech. At the end of the speech, Musk his right hand over his chest before emphatically extended his arm out and slightly upward. At first glance, it seemed as though Musk had just done a Nazi salute. In the days since, Musk has continued to deny that accusation; and others have also come to his defense.
On a recent episode of Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast, Gillis — joined by co-host Matt McCusker and comedian Druski — believed there was no room for interpretation.
“That was tough to defend, bro,” Gillis said.
McCusker then quoted Musk’s explanation of the gesture, saying he was “sending my heart to you.”
Druski argued that Musk was simply trolling with the gesture, noting the fact that Musk is an avid social media user and may have been trying to intentionally do something edgy.
Still, Gillis maintained that was not the time for it.
“But, tossing a fucking [Nazi salute],” Gillis said. “That’s not even a joke. You can’t do that at a political rally!”
McCusker then mocked Elon for his denial of the gesture, adding that Musk said, “Oh my god, enough with the Nazi stuff.”
“That was a close one,” Gillis added. “I’m usually quick to defend.”
