‘Signaling to the Tribe’: Joe Rogan Calls Out JD Vance for Odd ‘Demons’ Claim From Their Interview

Joe Rogan called out his past guest Vice President JD Vance over a theory that extraterrestrial phenomena could actually be “demons” or spiritual beings.

American Alchemy podcast host Jesse Michels joined Rogan on the latest episode of The Joe Rogan Experience and at one point Rogan’s interview with Vance came up, specifically the vice president’s thoughts on aliens possibly being “demons.”

“He didn’t really have a good explanation for that. I pressed him on that,” Rogan said.

“And he kind of laughed very uncomfortably because he didn’t know what to say,” Michels responded.

“I think, with all due respect to Mr. Vance who I really like as a person, I think he’s a very nice guy,” Rogan said, before adding, “I think he’s signaling to the tribe.”

Rogan explained that explaining away UFO phenomena as religious could be a way to continue to play to the religious right after Michels accused Vance of simply waving off extraterrestrial concerns as something he didn’t have time for in the podcast interview.

“I kind of understand it, but kind of don’t. Plenty of time to go to church. Like, bro, look into it,” Rogan said.

The podcaster and comedian then further argued that tying such questions to religion is a way to win over “Christian believers.”

“It’s weird that you would say it’s demons, but I think it’s like Tucker Carlson has sort of alluded to this as well. I think there’s a certain aspect of people that are believers. When I say believers, I’m talking about, like, Christian believers,” Rogan said.

He appeared to take one last light jab at Vance while calling out all politicians.

“You will attract those people. It will resonate with certain people. And I do think, very unfortunately, that there are politicians that say things — we both know this — that they don’t necessarily believe because they think that their base wants to hear it,” Rogan said.
