‘They Blatantly Lied’: Andrew Schulz Accuses Kamala Harris of Dodging Podcast Interview

Comedian Andrew Schulz accused former Vice President Kamala Harris’s team of “blatantly” lying about an interview he tried to set up with her during the 2024 presidential campaign.
Schulz spoke with The New York Times this week about his rising success in podcasting — he co-hosts Flagrant and Brilliant Idiots — and the space’s escalating influence on politics. President Donald Trump made the rounds on multiple podcasts during his campaign, including Schulz’s Flagrant.
According to Schulz, he tried multiple times to get Harris to join him on his show, but he was unsuccessful. Joe Rogan has similarly accused Harris’s campaign of ruining a potential interview with growing requests. Schulz said he tried getting Pete Buttigieg, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D), and Harris on his show.
“Pete Buttigieg. Tim Walz. Kamala Harris — and then her team just lies. Blatantly lies,” Schulz said.
“About what?” the Times’ David Marchese asked.
“About us reaching out,” Schulz explained.
Schulz claimed he tried reaching out to the Harris campaign through his Brilliant Idiots co-host Charlamagne Tha God, as well as Mark Cuban, who was a surrogate for her campaign at the time.
“It’s wild to blatantly lie when not only did I reach out — Charlamagne, who’s working with them, reached out. Mark Cuban, who’s a surrogate, reached out, and we reached out, and they blatantly lie. Then when people write articles about it, they’ll say, ‘Andrew says he reached out to Kamala, but we reached out to the Kamala people, and they said that never happened.’ So what is the reader supposed to interpret that as?” Schulz said.
He added it was like an “indictment” on him.
Buttigieg has since done Schulz’s podcast, as has Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
Schulz identifies as a Democrat, but voted for Trump in 2024, and he opened up to the Times about his three reasons for crossing party lines, which included “empathy for illegals that are here and that are not breaking the law,” though he acknowledged Trump’s mass deportations have not fully followed through on that one.
“Protecting I.V.F. My wife and I had a baby through I.V.F., and it was important to me that he would do something to make sure that was protected, especially with the abortion bans,” Schulz said. “He specifically said that he would. Let’s see if that actually happens. Empathy for illegals that are here that are not breaking the law, that have been working here on a pathway to citizenship. Which it doesn’t look like has been happening. This is disheartening for me. And then an end to the foreign wars.”
Schulz previously brought up his attempts at a Harris interview in November 2024. He claimed at the time that Harris’s team was “not really enthusiastic” about her appearing on the podcast.
