Daily News Rips Obama for Skipping Paris Rally: ‘You Let the World Down’

 

Relative bastion of sanity in the Gotham tabloid world, the New York Daily News went all out against the Obama administration on its Monday cover for not attending yesterday’s Paris Unity Rally.

The march, in solidarity with French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo after a terrorist attack last week left a dozen dead, was attended by major European and Middle Eastern heads of state — but not by Obama. The U.S. was represented instead by U.S. Ambassador to France Jane Hartley; Obama also sent outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder for “substantive meetings” with French authorities, though he did not attend the march.

This prompted the predictable meltdown from Fox News figures. (CNN host Jake Tapper said he was “disappointed.”)

Others countered that Obama’s attendance would have had the right howling about everything from the cost of the trip to the fact that Obama made something “all about him.”
