Mediaite’s Guide To 2012 Newspaper Presidential Endorsements
With less than a week left until Election Day 2012, newspaper and magazine editorial boards have furiously been pecking away at their typewriters (they still use those, right?) writing what they believe to be their most articulate endorsement of a particular presidential candidate.
The divide is typically the same every year — the big east and west coast city papers endorse the Democrat, while the more red-state-ish papers endorse the Republican.
This year, however, has some notable surprises: two major New York papers endorsed Romney after years of going Democrat; Iowa’s main paper endorsed Romney; and Wisconsin’s second-largest paper (and the only one in the endorsement game) gave its stamp of approval to the Republican.
