LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau seemed to be slightly peeved by the silent treatment he got from the PGA’s Rory McIlory during the final round of the Masters.
McIlroy and DeChambeau went into the final round of the tournament Sunday in first and second place, respectively. They were also the final pairing to take the course with a tee time of 2:30 p.m. ET.
The final pairing lived up to the hype, with both golfers making a number of impressive shots at Augusta National Golf Club. One of the best came when McIlory masterfully navigated the trees on the 7th hole.
As the tournament went on, however, DeChambeau started to falter as McIlory continued leading the pack. Then, McIlory stunningly lost his lead to a surging Justin Rose. McIlroy’s missed putt on the 18th led to a playoff against Rose on the same hole. Despite a multitude of setbacks, McIlroy won the tournament to become just the sixth golfer to win every major tournament — a feat known as the career Grand Slam.
After McIlory’s win, DeChambeau was asked how his opponent was doing. DeChambeau revealed that he didn’t know because he wouldn’t talk to him.
“No idea,” DeChambeau said. “Didn’t talk to me once all day.”
A reporter then asked if DeChambeau tried to initiate conversation with McIlroy during the day.
“He wouldn’t talk to me,” he said.
Although McIlroy and DeChambeau didn’t speak during play, the two greeted one another moments before teeing off.
