Charles Barkley Roasts ‘Losers’ Who Watched Solar Eclipse: ‘I’m Not Gonna Sit Outside Like an Idiot and Wait on the Darkness’
Charles Barkley didn’t share in the rest of the country’s enthusiasm for Monday’s solar eclipse, calling everyone else “losers” for caring about it.
During halftime of the NCAA men’s college basketball national championship between the University of Connecticut and Purdue, the topic of the eclipse came up on TNT’s halftime show. That’s when Barkley asked his colleagues a question.
“Were y’all some of them losers standing outside watching that today?” Barkley said.
Ernie Johnson was quick to defend the ones interested in the celestial phenomenon, saying, “They’re not losers!”
“Yes, they are!” Barkley fired back. “Hey, we’ve all seen darkness before! Stop it!”
Kenny Smith also disagreed with Barkley. He then called him out for being so against the eclipse but urging everyone to look outside and see the “Chuck Blimp” a promotional blimp from Capital One that featured Barkley’s face.
“I saw losers standing, watching your blimp!” Smith said. “How about that? They were outside [saying], ‘Have you seen Chuck’s blimp?'”
To Barkley, however, it was different.
“Well, I’m not gonna sit outside like an idiot and wait on the darkness,” he said. “It’s gonna be dark when we go outside tonight.
“The eclipse is gonna happen again. I won’t ever have another blimp.”
