Colin Cowherd Relishing National Attention After Viral Taylor Swift Rant: ‘We Are Transcending TV’

Fox Sports pundit Colin Cowherd is well aware of the frenzy he caused with his Taylor Swift rant, and he seems to be enjoying every second of it.

Last week, Cowherd provided his two cents on the narrative surrounding Swift and the way the NFL shows her at games. She’s become a regular sighting at Kansas City Chiefs games since confirming her relationship with tight end Travis Kelce, and it’s led to heated debates about her place in the sport. Some think it’s good for the NFL that Swift’s presence has introduced a new audience, while others believe the NFL shows her too much during broadcasts and it’s ruining the game.

Cowherd took aim at the latter, accusing “sad and lonely” men of being “insecure” and “misogynistic” for their aggressive opposition to Swift.

On Monday’s episode of The Herd, Cowherd and Jason McIntyre were discussing great athletes who were unable to win championships because they played in eras with even greater athletes. That’s when Cowherd drew parallels to the most recent Grammy Awards — which saw Swift win Album of the Year for the fourth time in her career.

“I mean, yesterday, Taylor Swift’s winning everything,” Cowherd said. “A lot of talented people that don’t win anything because of Taylor Swift, a friend of the show.”

When Cowherd mentioned she was a “friend of the show,” he looked straight into the camera.

McIntyre revealed that Cowherd’s rant got so much attention that his mother-in-law even saw it.

“My mother-in-law texted me, ‘Boy, that was some take Colin had on Taylor Swift,'” McIntyre said. “I was like, ‘You’re not watching.’ She’s like, ‘My friend saw it on The View.’ I was like, ‘What?!’ Dude, you made The View!”

Cowherd used the anecdote to make an excessively grand statement about his sports talk show.

“We are transcending TV,” he claimed.
