Ex-ESPN Anchor Sage Steele Calls Stephen A. Smith ‘Unprofessional’ for Comments on Jason Whitlock

Ex-ESPN anchor Sage Steele called it “disappointing” that Stephen A. Smith resorted to harsh personal attacks in his lengthy rant on Jason Whitlock.
Smith’s rant — in response to Whitlock accusing him of fabricating details in his autobiography — sent shockwaves throughout the sports media landscape. NFL analyst Shannon Sharpe, with whom Smith shares a desk on First Take, detailed his own experience with Whitlock and seemingly confirmed much of what Smith said. Others have also sided with Smith, including Jemele Hill and Fox Sports host Mike Hill.
I did. Stephen A Smith told the truth. Ole Boy tried to recruit a bunch of us to do some work for what was then the Undefeated and we did not want to work with him. https://t.co/dsNOObShpd

Steele, on the other hand, was not as supportive.
“This is disappointing,” Steele tweeted. “And unnecessary. And unprofessional. It actually saddens me (because) I believe SAS is better than this. Crazy week at the [“Worldwide Leader”] in sports.”
