A Florida high school football coach charged with child abuse was caught on video fighting multiple students in a separate incident.
According to a report from Local 10 News, 29-year-old Jamir Clarke was arrested after the parents of Blanche Ely High School students sent a letter to the principal accusing him of hitting three students. The incident, the parents alleged, occurred at a football practice on Monday.
In an arrest report obtained by Local 10 News, it was revealed that Clarke called one of the students a “bitch” and punched him in the face for posting something negative on social media about a friend of the coach. This caused several other players to rush Clarke, prompting the coach to swing wildly at the student-athletes surrounding him.
In an entirely separate incident, Clarke — listed at 6-foot-7 and 400 pounds — was recorded on video fighting students in a bathroom at Monarch High School. In the video, Clarke was seen punching a student until that student fell to the ground. Then, he kicked the student before another one tried fighting the coach.
Broward County Public Schools said in a statement that Clarke had been “reassigned”:
The employee in question is being reassigned as we review the matter for further action, up to and including termination. We are deeply disturbed by this incident, as the safety and well-being of our students is our number one priority.
