LA Clippers Star Russell Westbrook Has to Be Held Back During Another Tense Exchange With Courtside Fan

Russell Westbrook confronts fan

Los Angeles Clippers guard Russell Westbrook got into it with another fan during the team’s 113-104 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Monday.

This time, the exchange got so heated that Westbrook had to be held back by his teammates, referees, and multiple Nuggets players.

As the game was coming to a close, Westbrook was seen having an animated back-and-forth with a fan nearby. Seconds later, a ref got between Westbrook and the fan to defuse the situation. Westbrook then turned back to the court to focus on playing the final few seconds of the game.

When the final buzzer sounded, Westbrook returned to the same spot to continue jawing at the fan. Nuggets guard Justin Holiday walked over to try to calm Westbrook down, as did Westbrook’s teammate Daniel Theis. Nuggets center DeAndre Carter also joined the commotion, shared some words with Westbrook, and calmly ushered him away from the fan.

After the game, Westbrook implied the fan said something that went beyond typical trash talk and he simply wouldn’t stand for it. He also refused to repeat what the fan said.

“It’s unfortunate that fans think they can say whatever they want,” Westbrook told the media. “I’m not gonna say it now because it’s not appropriate. I’m just protecting myself. That’s about it.

“It’s just unfortunate fans think they can get away with saying anything, and, personally, I won’t allow it. I took a lot of people saying anything and getting away with it, but I won’t stand for it.”

In recent years, Westbrook has continued to make that point clear. He’s never been shy about confronting fans for crossing the line, and even came face-to-face with someone in a suite last season.
