Mike Greenberg Lashes Out at ESPN Producers for Proposed Josh Allen Topic: ‘What a Disrespectful Question!’

ESPN commentator Mike Greenberg was fed up with the way his producers framed a discussion about Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

On Wednesday’s episode of Get Up, the desk was looking ahead to the weekend and predicting individual performances from some of the NFL’s biggest stars. According to Greenberg’s notes, they were expected to debate how many touchdowns Packers QB Jordan Love would have and how many yards Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill would have.

The final topic, according to Greenberg, would have them predicting how many turnovers Allen will have.

At the time of the show, Allen was second in the league in turnovers with 16.

“I am aiming this directly at my favorite people in the world: the staff of this show, the team that puts together this show,” Greenberg said. “‘More or less.’ Jordan Love, how many touchdowns is he gonna throw? Tyreek Hill, how many yards? Josh Allen, how many turnovers? What a disrespectful question for us to be asking about a guy who is playing — I’m gonna say it — better than anyone in this league!”

Greenberg then ripped up his notes to abandon the scheduled topic and address what he perceives is a bias against Allen.

“We focus more on the one bad play Josh Allen makes every week than the 60 that almost no one else in history possibly could,” he said. “His team would be so bad if they didn’t ask him to do absolutely everything. He is the most unfairly judged player in the NFL.”

In the heat of the moment, Greenberg also felt the need to give a truly head-turning take about the 27-year-old.

“If he had wound up on Kansas City (Chiefs) with Andy Reid and those guys,” he said, “we’d be talking about him as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.”
