SportsCenter Anchor Trashes Oakland A’s for Planned Move to Minor League Park: ‘You-Know-What-ing All Over a Fanbase’
SportsCenter anchor Nicole Briscoe went off on Oakland Athletics ownership for the plan to move the team to a minor league park in Sacramento next season.
Led by owner John Fisher, the A’s — much to the chagrin of the fanbase — have been trying to relocate to Las Vegas. In response, fans have called for Fisher to sell the team. Arguments in support of the move have pointed to low attendance over the last few seasons, but fans have claimed the the organization hasn’t invested enough in the on-field product. What followed was a series of “reverse boycotts” and a wild conspiracy theory involving a fan-run organization that’s notably anti-ownership.
Earlier this week, the team announced it will move to Sutter Health Park in Sacramento for the next three seasons. The park is the home of the Sacramento River Cats, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. In 2028, the team plans to move to Las Vegas.

On SportsCenter early Friday morning, Briscoe called out the organization for everything it’s put the fans through.
“This one time, I tore my ACL. Then, three years later, I tore my other ACL. That is a bad situation made worse,” Briscoe said. “There was another time I was solo parenting. My oldest had a stomach bug — so did my little one — on my birthday. A bad situation made worse-er.”
“Then there is whatever the A’s are doing because they’re you-know-what-ing all over a fanbase that has supported what has been four years now the worst franchise in baseball — but sure, peace out, Oakland. Three years early for like $11 million a year in favor of a minor league ballpark in Sacramento that is literally 49,000 seats smaller than the Coliseum. Do the math! And it’s also lacking more than a few other amenities that actual major leaguers might consider requirements!”
